Wont mom help babies?

I bought a new toy...fishing rod with a magnet and 4fishes with magnets each for Pratheek. The rope gets tangled up in that pulley system every time he carelessly plays with it. Since I bought it yesterday I fixed it for him so many times that this morning when he asked me again to do it, I said I wont and dint speak a word after it.

After a while he comes to me and starts talking very sweet. He said , "Amma when a small baby comes and asks you to help, wont you help? Dont you like cute small babies? Can they do any thing on their own? Why you dont want to help? " He made his point that hez a baby and he needs to be helped any number of times he asks me.

I was both proud and happy at his intelligence and the way he put it but also annoyed. I gave a soft whack on his back and asked him to run from there before I give him a bigger one.

Kid I wish I had

While we waited at the Koramangla stadium for Pratheek's Taekwondo competition, it got so late that I felt I need to feed something to him. I gave him a banana. He pointed out that it was not so good at one end of it. Actually it was a little over riped. Having no bin around to throw, I forced myself to chew that 'bad' piece off the banana with the hope that he eats. I was concerned that he slpet without eating his dinner previous night and today as well he had just a glass of milk. My effort paid off and he ate half of the banana. My eyes gleamed with joy.

While this happened what else also happened was this. There was this small boy whose age would be around 6years. He looked a little underweight and correct word would be a little under nourished. He was looking at me while I fed the banana to Pratheek. He seemed to be smitten by the banana. He was just a kid. I took pity on him and offered him one. He politely refused but I insisted. Later after a bit of prodding, he took it from my hand. I wanted to see how happy he would be to eat it. To my surprise he quickly peeled it off and started making it into pieces. He then gave one piece each to smaller kids around who were sitting in a group along with him. At the end he was finally left with a tiny banana piece which he gulped but he had such a content look on his face. He was happy that he fed the smaller kids. None of them actually even knew he had a banana in his hand. He had a chance to eat it without sharing with anyone. But share, he did.

I just wanted to go an hug this kid for the kind of heart he had. In this age where parents do what not just to see their kid eat something. Anything. But this kid who does not have anything and surely must have been from a poor family knew the value of many things. He knew the value of sharing, he knew the value of food, he knew the value of friends and family. The kind of values I would love to see in my kids

Sad that I could not take a picture with him due to space constraint in my phone. But I will remember for the rest of my life .
